The Iberá is best understood from the land that surrounds it. At San Juan de Poriahú, a cattle estancia on the edge of the wetlands, wildlife and ranch life share the same fields: capybaras graze beside the cows, caimans sun themselves at the edge of the lagoons, and the gauchos of the wet pampas work the herds on horseback as they always have. Three nights is enough to fall into its rhythm.
Day 1 · From Posadas to the wetlands
Highlight · A first gentle walk on the edge of the Iberá, with wildlife close at hand.
From Posadas airport by road to San Juan de Poriahú, on the edge of the Iberá. A gentle first walk in the afternoon is enough to start seeing wildlife without going far.

Day 2 · Wildlife of the Iberá
Highlight · Capybaras, caimans and marsh deer from a simple motor boat in the lagoons.
The days follow the weather and the animals. Birdwatching at first light, in one of the richest bird areas in the country; a simple motor boat into the lagoons to find capybaras, caimans and the marsh deer; or a ride across the estancia's fields.

Day 3 · Ranch life in the wet pampas

A day closer to the estancia's own life, following the gauchos in their daily work, with time for another ride or another outing on the water.
Night · Esteros del Iberá
Day 4 · Back to Posadas
Highlight · A final morning among the lagoons and birds of the Iberá.
Drive · 150 km
