Kallpa

About Kallpa

Kallpa is a destination management company that designs and operates journeys in Argentina, Chile and their neighbours for travel companies around the world, with its own teams on the ground since the late 1980s.

Kallpa's first journeys ran through the northwest of Argentina, among the valleys and high plains of Salta and Jujuy, and from there the company grew the way it still works today: with its own people and long-standing local operators and suppliers, first across Argentina and then into Chile and neighbouring countries. More than thirty years later it remains privately owned, financially solid and independent, which is why our partners can plan with us years ahead.

What we do

We design and operate FITs, series and groups for tour operators and wholesalers, for agencies with tailor-made clients and for organisers of special-interest groups, across adventure, cultural, premium and special-interest travel. We do not sell to the public: every traveller in Argentina or Chile with Kallpa is here because a travel company chose us as its local partner, and travels under that company's name. And we are local wherever we sell: our teams and partners live and work in the places that appear in our itineraries, from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and from the Atacama to Iguazú.

How we run the company

We run Kallpa as a responsible operation, under a public sustainability policy, and hold Travelife Partner recognition, reviewed independently every two years; Travelife Certified is where we are heading. We are members of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), the Latin American Travel Association (LATA) and ARGE Lateinamerika, among others. We have been at ITB Berlin every year since 1988, and we take an active part in WTM, Emotions, the ATTA Summit and other industry gatherings, where many of our partnerships began and where we keep meeting the people we work with.

Why we do it

Our purpose: to create authentic travel experiences that connect people with each other and with the places they visit, making room for encounters that matter and contributing to human development through travel.

Our vision: to build an international company that brings together brands, people and experiences around travel, creating value through knowledge, innovation and reliable execution, growing into new businesses, generating positive social and economic development in the communities and places where it operates, and outlasting its founders.

Our values, in our own words:

  • Closeness to the territory. We work from a real, living and respectful relationship with the destinations, the people who live there and what makes each place particular.
  • Innovation with purpose. We look for new ways to create value in product, in how we run the company and in technology, always with sense and depth behind it.
  • Personal service, reliability and support. We want our partners and their travellers to feel they can lean on us before, during and after the journey.
  • Humanity and respect. We understand travel as a human, cultural and relational experience, not just a transaction.
  • Honesty and transparency. We build trust through seriousness, clarity and care for the relationship.
  • Sustainability. We promote a way of travelling and of running a business that looks after the places, values the communities and seeks positive impact over the long term.
  • Ambition and improvement. We want to grow, improve and build a company with a future, creating opportunities for our people and our communities.

Rewilding Argentina-The Mass Restoration of damaged ecosystems

“Rewilding means the mass restoration of damaged ecosystems. It involves letting trees return to places that have been denuded, allowing parts of the seabed to recover from trawling and dredging, permitting rivers to flow freely again. Above all, it means bringing back missing species.”George Monbiot
