Rodeo

Rodeo is a small village in the Jáchal valley, next to the Cuesta del Viento reservoir, a turquoise lake among bare mountains. Every afternoon in season the wind rises over the water with remarkable regularity, which has made it one of the best places in the world for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Around it lie the villages of Iglesia and Las Flores, the hot springs of Pismanta and, to the east, the old town of San José de Jáchal, with its adobe mills and the Los Cauquenes dam in the gorge of the Sierra Negra.

One or two nights here are usually part of the road between Barreal and Ischigualasto, or the way to the Agua Negra pass into Chile. Days go on the water, the hot springs and the drive through the valley.

The wind season runs from October to April. Winter is calm and cold.
