Mountain, Vineyards & Blue skies at the Uco Valley

An intimate and relaxing gourmet & wine experience awaits in the Uco Valley.

Finca La Azul represents the story of a family business venture well taken care of. Francisco Hinojosa arrived to the Uco Valley in Mendoza almost 100 years ago, to find cheap, arid and stony unoccupied grounds. The Hinojosa family believes that he was the visionary man that started the winemaking culture in this area, given that today is one of the most coveted zones in Mendoza for the growth of special quality grapes destined to fine wine production. The thermal amplitude of the Uco Valley makes a perfect terroir for these grapevines.

Nowadays, Francisco´s heirs run the business and it was his daughter Shirley who decided to open the House of Guests almost three years ago. Finca La Azul´s main house was originally her home for more than 20 years. After taking care of the wine family business, she thought that she wanted to have interesting people to talk to once she grew old and to share her time, cooking and life anecdotes.

For this matter, the 50 mt2 main house was remodeled and expanded to reach 1000 mt2 and host six rooms. Keeping in mind sustainable details, it was decided to protect the house both from cold and heat by building thick stone and sand walls (materials from the very own finca), installing double glass windows and convection heating with wood stoves.

The ranch also works with sustainable agriculture, controlling the use of water and using eco-friendly products to grow peaches, plums and grapes for refined and sparkling wines.

In the very words of Tomás, one of Shirley´s sons, the same soil that in 1991 was an empty open field, today is a long grown land inhabited by plants, families and technological elements and tools (such as an avant-garde irrigation system) for an intensive care of the crops, a handy aid for the finca staff´s daily work.

As for the House of Guests, Shirley´s idea is for the visitors to feel pampered and at home. To share and cook for them and show how the Argentine people life is.

Within an intimate environment between vineyards and fruit trees, right next to the Hinojosa family home, any of the six rooms provide breathtaking views of the Andes and coziness. All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom with bath tub and views, hi-tech TV, Netflix and the best wines.

Being a multicultural family, the gastronomic proposal is a mixture of aromas and flavours. Spanish, Italian and Arabian influences originate intense and traditional creole dishes prepared with seasonal fresh ingredients grown in their very own garden. Of course, always perfectly paired with the wines of this land.

Depending on the season, Finca La Azul offers different activities such as harvesting or cooking. Wine tastings at the wine cellar are always present and a vast collection of classical literature books is available for guests to read and relax at the library. Enjoy cocktails at sunset watching the mountains, a romantic dinner at the vines under the starry sky or a summer lunch at the quincho.

At this homey and friendly space, Shirley and her family will be waiting for you to talk about wine, taste and drink it, show you around this wonderful scenery and enjoy with you its tranquility, gladly offering you their home.

Comfort & Relax in the Rainforest

Travelling is all about experiences, and when accommodation services meet or go beyond our expectations, the journey’s memories enrich. Such was the case with the Yvy Jungle Hotel, where our stay was very enjoyable. That’s why we want to share it’s story with you.

The Yvy Jungle Hotel is located in a beautiful and natural environment in the region of the Iguazu Falls: the Iryapú Jungle Reserve, an outstanding natural site that comprises 3 acres of lush greenery. An ideal place for nature lovers, since it is shared with many Guarani villages and countless species of native flora and fauna, like the Caraguatá, the Pink Lapacho and the Harpy Eagle among others. The route to the Hotel is a highlight itself.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who took us to our rooms on a small cart. In the room we were surprised with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and some petit fours, which we thought was a nice gesture included with all Deluxe Room Reservations. Standard Rooms come with complimentary bottles of water and petit fours.

A close encounter with nature, 24 nicely decorated beautiful rooms and the comfort of privacy get together to create a wonderful experience. We liked the bungalow style rooms in the jungle setting and it only took an easy walk getting to the main area of the hotel for meals. The rooms are very spacious and the jungle views through the windows are great. The bathrooms are small but adequate. The rooms have air-conditioning, a safety box, a TV and free Wifi.

This hotel is a couple of kilometres away from the downtown area, that’s why both nights we had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The on-site Mua Restaurant offers regional and international delicious dishes and we were able taste some of the best national and international wines at the Itakua Cava. The restaurant’s service was very good and the waiters were very helpful.

Yvy Hotel de Selva also features an outdoor swimming pool, which is a bonus for guests when they come back from excursions. It was awesome to dive in the water and watch Mother Nature all around us.

Event facilities are available and there is a 24-hour front desk assistance. The hotel is located only a 10-minute walk from the city centre and 3,6 km from the bus station. Puerto Iguazú airport is 20 km away and Iguazu National Park is at 17.9 km.

If you like walking, you should go to the City Centre and visit the Three Borders Boundary Post, which is one of the few places in the world where you can watch three countries at the same time.

We invite you to ask your Kallpa Account Executive about this and other experiences in accommodation to enlighten your traveler’s experience.

Northern countryside relax at Amalinas Hotel

Relax, high comfort and trendy design surrounded by the beautiful yunga landscape awaits only 15 minutes away from Salta’s downtown.

Settled in Castellanos, nearby Villa San Lorenzo, Amalinas Hotel combines a relaxed countryside location with the urban comfort, ideal for self drive travellers visiting Salta.

Amalinas Hotel-36

This new hotel opened last May and greeted us with incredible mountain views from any standing point, thanks to the large windows thoughtfully placed and the outside gallery and garden. We immediately appreciated a relaxed and enlightened environment, powered by the exuberant vegetation that surrounds us.

amalinas_room

We have been told that Amalinas’ semi-urban conceptual aesthetic was originated by the hotel’s location, given it is encircled by wild nature but only a few minutes away from the city’s cultural and historical center. The idea was to “contemplate the yunga from a designer chair”. To represent this merged concept, the hotel was constructed using wood, stone, aluminum and glass. These materials are appreciated in the ten rooms available, distributed along the two story building, all of them equipped with designer furniture.

Amalinas Hotel-91

Ideal to contemplate the panoramic view, all the rooms on the first floor have a balcony. From our suite on this floor, we saw a peculiar detail that charmed us: the gallery’s green roof in bloom with typical plants from the area, a view that blends with the yunga’s natural background. This can also be seen looking up from the hotel’s garden, where you can relish and settle back in the climatized pool or outdoor jacuzzi.

Another detail which is typical from northern houses, are the color limestones applied in the bathrooms, which were specially made for the hotel. This gives a homey and warmer touch to the room’s environment.

Buffet breakfast was served at Amalinas’ Resto Bar, where we sat at one of the tables in the outside gallery to enjoy the view. The restaurant is open for the four meals and it includes distinguished dishes prepared by recognised regional chefs, a variety of wines and cocktail drinks and also patisserie and coffee for the afternoon.
