Horseback Riding between lakes – Tierra del Fuego

Horseback Riding between lakes  at the Heart of Tierra del Fuego.

Discover the amazing landscapes of Escondido Lake on a horse riding experience.

Depart from Ushuaia Hotels around 3.30 pm, drive 55km along national road 3 crossing the Andes by Garibaldi Pass. Visit Laguna Escondida Ranch’ and Baqueano lodge, the starting point of the riding adventure.

The estancia was founded in 1956 by Bronzovich Family who settled  in Tierra del Fuego to develop a business around the local woods, especially Lenga wood.

Horses are one of the family’s passions and they have become very well known for being enthusiastic players of our National Sport , Pato.

As you arrive at the Ranch you will be invited for a one hour ride through the beautiful sub antarctic forests that hold incredible varieties of Nothofagus Trees. The trail takes you towards Lago Escondido shores and the amazing views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

On your way back to the  lodge a delicious Tea and Snack will be waiting as you share with the family stories and anecdotes of this far away land.

At 7pm you will be heading back to Ushuaia, arrival time being around 8 pm.

Remember to schedule this adventure on your next trip to Ushuaia!

NEW DINING DOME IN TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK

NEW DINING DOME IN TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK

A new dining dome with an updated menu, perfect to complement visits to the Park and recharge energy after activities in contact with nature.

The Tierra del Fuego National Park is located in the southwest corner of the homonymous island, on the Beagle Channel and next to the city of Ushuaia. It preserves about 70,000 hectares of Patagonian forests that invite you to enjoy hikes in contact with virgin nature.

Recently, a new dining dome was inaugurated, with more space and better amenities so that passengers who join Canal Fun half or full-day trekking and canoes excursions can enjoy them.

The menu, also renovated, includes healthy options that are better suited to the most frequent dietary restrictions, while maintaining dedication and attention to detail.

With a privileged view of the Lapataia River and the Condor Hill, passengers enjoy the new lunch place in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, before continuing to discover the wonders of Tierra del Fuego National Park by expert guides.

We invite you to visit the dome! Ask your Kallpa executive for half-day or full-day Canal Fun excursions that include lunch at the new facilities.

World’s End minitrekking

Enjoy the World’s End at Tierra del Fuego National Park, the last Patagonian forest of the continent.

The journey begins with a 12 km drive on the National Route No. 3 towards the southwest, making a few stops to enjoy panoramic views of the Beagle Channel, the Ushuaia Peninsula and the Bridges Archipelago.

A few kilometres later, we enter the Tierra del Fuego National Park: a 68.909 hectare conservation area for the protection of Subantarctic forest and native wildlife. Only 2000 ha of its southern end are open to the public since the rest of the park is considered as a strict reserve. This is one of the few Argentine national parks with a sea coast and valleys with glacial rivers and lakes.

The first hike in the park begins at the trailhead of Mirador LapataIa. Approximately after 40 minutes, we reach the path’s end at a paleo-fiord. This is where the famous Pan-American Highway –which starts in Alaska- ends.

The next stop is Roca Lake, a binational waterbody divided between Argentina and Chile, followed by the last stretch of the journey at Ensenada Zaratiegui Bay. Here we shortly sail through the Beagle Channel on an RIB boat, where it is possible to watch a diversity of native shorebirds.

The boat arrives to Redonda Island, where the last 40 minute hike takes place through one of the most pristine areas ever, surrounded by cinnamon and coihue forests.
