Called moon valley due to its dryness and the strange figures carved in the landscape by eons of erosion, this area is world famous among paleontologists as the place where the most fossils of Triassic period dinosaurs have been uncovered. The Talampaya National park is a vast region of red soil which has eroded over time creating towering rock formations and canyons. Numerous rock drawings can be found in this once sacred land of Indian worship.

Cross over to Chilecito through the spectacular Cuesta de Miranda pass to see the world's longest mine train and taste the region's prestigious wines.
