Sustainable tourism projects at Puerto Valle

Message in a Bottle

In recent years, environmental awareness has led to great changes in consumer habits , and consequently the recycling of waste to minimize the impact on the environment.

When you think ” green ” bottles have known to be carriers of creative messages . They have already been used as bricks for green building ( earthship ) or for mounting on them and cross oceans : the case of David Rothschild who crossed the Pacific Ocean on a catamaran of 18 meters long constructed from plastic recycled bottles.

With so much creativity on the table, Marisol and Nicholas Di Costanzo Sciorto , were determined to put their two cents worth in. Since 2010 they manage Puerto Valle, a small boutique hotel , where they arrived to put their mark and focus on the little details, because that is what counts. The hotel is strategically located just 55 km from Posadas airport . Looking to the Paraná River and with a privileged access to Northeast Ibera Natural Reserve, the hotel aims to identify this unique ecosystem through the Laguna Valley .

“We took the example of David Rothschild, who focused on the buoyancy of the bottles. We needed a platform to observe animals, and began to fantasize about a floating structure held up by plastic bottles,” explains Nicholas. So the hotel implemented a recycling program that allowed to reduce significantly the volume of trash and accumulate the valuable bottles. After two years of hard work, Puerto Valle had enough material to make the structure a reality.

Today all guests visiting the Laguna Valley can enjoy the unforgettable “floating” between capybaras , caimans and birds , knowing that the bottles of water consumed during the visit to this vast ecosystem, hide a message that only requires imagination and wit to be revealed.

Sustainable farm for raising alligators. Yacaré Porá

Another of the sustainable projects is Yacaré Porá. Located in Puerto Valle property in the northeastern province of Corrientes Yacaré Porá is a sustainable farm for raising alligators.

In order to protect the broad-snouted caiman and black caiman, local endangered species, the project also seeks economic and sociocultural valuation of wetlands where alligators live with other species.

Through a program of conservation and sustainable use, Yacaré Porá can generate valuable resources and time necessary for the integrated conservation of correntinos wetlands.

The harvest of wild eggs ranching and enhancement of ecosystems made in this sustainable development allows maximum production with minimum environmental impact. The project also contributes to the recovery of populations in areas where the species has been eliminated or reduced, and the socio-economic development of the region.

My name is Bife de Chorizo

Today we have an interview with one of the greatest of our national cuisine and gastronomic culture … read the article and know why, as he says he is named… My name is Bife de Chorizo

bife-de-chorizo-argentino-a-las-brasas

One of the best and most popular cuts of meat served in our country. So popular that foreigners, with his characteristic accent, come to Argentine restaurants clamoring for my name … I want a Bife de Chorizo, they say. All the meat that makes his arrival to the grills are usually tender, but tasting good is something else, and I say so myself. The thing Is that Argentinian are not only passionate for Tango and Football they also love to communicate flavors. To respect our customs must give honor to the essence of Argentina’s meat, cattle are raised on pasture. My goal is not to lose it but bring awareness of what healthy and natural mean and have a memorable taste in the mouths of those who try me.

Years ago that travellers, all around the world, are wondering, and I hear when you ask the waiters!, you want to know why people call me Bife de Chorizo . Everywhere I’m named entrecote, in fact they named in France entrecotè. The truth here is that I like most the way as in Argentina people call me Bife de Chorizo . The truth is that neither I know why they call me like that. I am open to suggestions, if someone gives me a decent version worthy of applauses and standing ovations, then my senses will be ready to listen and then grant that person with one of the best flavors of the Argentinian meat. I can promise that I know I can keep.

When I am asked where I come from it is great. I am found on the outer side of the back of the cow, I am the boneless cutlet there. When I am separated from the bone, before they cut me like steak, I have triangular and cylindrical shape, so I go to the clinic for a surgery so i can become beautiful. When I am cut my measure is between 3 and 5 cm wide.

My name is bife de chorizo

Each lunch or dinner I receive all the applauses and many people compliment me. Most of the time I do not hear compliments, nothing is left of me at the plate, but this is a worthy death resulting from the design of culinary arts. I am dig, cut, chew and in the end is like a spa session where they get my best taste.

I am cook on the grill, for the taste of whoever eats me, cooked, ready, etc.. and serve me with broken potato accompaniment sometimes other with salad. Bife de Chorizo a la Riojana is another version of me that is for the brave and bold because the amount of things that accompany me and the way i am prepared. They put us making a beautiful decoration on the plate. Each of us condiments and sides have a special place and waiters take us to the table with all the glamour we deserve. I am the top recommendation and one of the who gets more YES everytime the menu is offered. Half Size or Full Size, I am always present and you can eat me as you like.

I do not want to talk much about me because I always say the best things in life must be tested and I’m usually on everyone’s lips, even before the tourists arrive in the country, they ask for me so i let you be the one who know me by my flavour.

My name is bife de chorizo

Most of those who know me, speak well of me, some eat only vegetables and I celebrate it, live the diversity! For those who want to try me, I welcome you and dare you to find something better! I wait every day at noon or night in restaurants and grills in town to know me. Once you try me you will be able to tell your friends why My name is Bife de Chorizo . Your words will be… I don’t know but it tastes so good!

Some of my friend restaurants are:

La Estancia located on lavalle street. La Chacra in Cordoba Avenue. Cabaña Las Lilas and Campo de Asadores in Puerto Madero. El Establo in Downtown.

In spring, summer, winter, autumn i am lying there on the grill, getting tan, come and visit! We’ll see soon… bye bye.

Your friend Bife de Chorizo

Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires

This month we decided to revisit Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires. A great option in Downtown near to very interesting places of the city. We share our experience!

Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires

When you enter Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires you have no longer the feeling you are in Buenos Aires Downtown. Even when the hotel is in front of 9 de Julio Avenue, noise is not heard. The staff at the reception is very warm and polite. Well provided with information and suggestions for the passengers. One of the things that i’ve noticed talking with Haydee, manager of the hotel, is that they take good care of the personal relation to provide a customer care focused on exceeding expectations.

The Hotel Bristol offers a great location on the 9 de Julio Avenue, across from the Obelisk. You can walk out and watch the widest Avenue in South America, July 9th. and standing in the center you will see the obelisk. You are three blocks away from Florida Street and also from Colon Theater, two emblematic points of interest in Buenos Aires. Also 6 blocks away from plaza de Mayo and the Pink House. Bristol is also 10 blocks from Puerto Madero, a typical touristic spot and stylish restaurant area, and just one block away from Corrientes Avenue, a major theater and entertainment venue. Is 200 metres from 9 de Julio subway station and 6 km from Jorge Newbery Airport. Visits to the local points of interest can be arranged through the tour desk.

“Hard to find a better location in Central Buenos Aires. Very good value, and extremely helpful staff.” Says Alan Morgan on his review on Trip Avisor.

We started visiting the rooms. 125 to be exact. They have ample windows and laminated floors, some of them with a view of the city lights at night. I was amazed specially with the view from room 915. You can see the obelisk and most of the avenue. This room is requested by professional photographers to capture the essence of Buenos Aires during the day and the night. Amenities include air conditioning, cable TV, and queen or king sized beds.

You can also exercise in the exclusive gym.

Hotel Bristol’s restaurant is situated on the mezzanine floor and serves breakfast buffet with croissants, pastries, regional and international specialties, and snacks. Our CEO Gabriel Barok was impressed with the variety of options included. I also had the opportunity to be there when passengers were having breakfast and i can tell that they were very satisfied. Room service is also available if you would like to stay resting in the room and enjoy the great view.

Environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge

In a common effort between Adventure Life, Yacutinga Lodge and Kallpa Tour, the importance of caring about the environment and preserving the forest is one of the main purposes of the environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge and its wildlife refuge which are going through since 2003

The Paranaense forest extending between Argentina , Brazil and Paraguay. It’s one of the most biodiverse forests in the region and the largest biodiversity on the continent after the Amazon. It’s the natural refuge of large predators such as the jaguar (Panthera onca) and the harpy eagle (Harpy Eagle).

Its forests are home to over 110 species of mammals, over 500 species of birds, more than 200 fish and a variety of aquatic vertebrates and invertebrates. Only in the Iguazu National Park about 250 species of trees and 85 varieties of orchids are recorded fascinating.

Currently only retains 7.8% of the 47 million hectares of forest and originally had a highly fragmented landscape. This loss and degradation due to uncontrolled expansion of the agricultural frontier, the overexploitation of forest infrastructure development – dams and roads, and illegal hunting of wildlife.

Misiones, in Argentina , with the largest block of continuous forest that still stands , occupying about 50 % of the area of the province. There has 1,128,343 mount up what is known as the Green Corridor.

Yacutinga Lodge and Wildlife Refuge are located on the Upper Iguazú River in the extreme northeast of Argentina. Just 60 km from the Iguazu Falls. Retains a wealth of bio-diversity, away from mass tourism flow that characterizes the area of Iguazu Falls as part of the Green Corridor. The presence of lush wildlife make of Yacutinga a spectacular environment to provide extremely interesting information about the mysteries and peculiarities of the majestic Mission Selva information.

environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge

As part of its management objectives to raise awareness among young people of the neighboring village, goes through with an environmental education project called “The gurisada and Mount” since 2003 which consists in a series of environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge. These workshops aimed at children between 8-12 years of rural area schools aim to contribute to knowledge and respect for natural resources.

Three issues are adressed:

The importance of the Forest, an environmental community service.

The importance of drinking water and the need to properly manage waste, to minimize pollution.

The importance of environmental conservation as a “treasure” for future generations.

During the year 2012 and 2013 Kallpa Tour Operator, Adventure Life and Yacutinga Lodge have decided to join forces for a series of environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge for the rural Guaraní Community Kagui Pora located in the Municipality of Comandante Andresito in the argentine Province of Misiones.

environmental-educational-workshops-at-yacutinga-lodge-reception

These unusual activities are intended to present the environmental problems the Paranaense Forest suffers to the Guarani children in order to achieve a better understanding of this unpleasant and unfortunate situation, which undoubtedly affects their roots and customs.

The Guaraní Community Kagui Pora, which neighbors Yacutinga Lodge, has been suffering for years the negative impacts produced by the indiscriminate development of the natural environment, which has sheltered them since ancient times.

Environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge

The impact caused by the deforestation in the area and the consequent loss of biodiversity causes irreparable damage to Society as a whole and particularly to the indigenous Communities, which must necessarily adapt to these drastic changes and demands.

This new condition of life forces our Guaraní brothers to understand their own trans-culturization process. This is the reason we decided on these “educational days“ aiming to understand together the threats of the desertification of the Jungle floor, humus loss and waste generation.

Our goal is to gather information on proper handling of household waste, the importance of water conservation and soil fertility of the Jungle and value the environment that provides a healthy service to every inhabitant of this ecosystem.

Environmental educational workshops at Yacutinga Lodge

Yacutinga Lodge organized these “educational days” with the active contribution of the Guarani Community Kagui Pora and the volunteer students to Ranger: Debra Agüero, Colo Valente and German Alonso.

Many thanks to all of them for their passion, companionship and affection provided in order to reach the goal of our educational program “La Gurisada y el Monte “
